Pay for college football players??

I can hardly believe my ears!!  College football players can now be in a union and get paid?  I do agree that if they are not able to work, then some of the money should go for tuition, housing, and supplies.  That is what scholarships are for.  But to get paid?  No way!!

Yes, sports programs bring in a great deal of money for colleges and universities.  This money is used to support other programs in the system.  It helps pay for professor's salaries.  I realize that many athletes are not in sports to get an education but to go on to professional sports.  If that is the case, then skip college.

College is for learning.  Education is important in today's workforce.  It is extremely difficult to get a good paying job without a degree.  Athletes need to realize that one injury could end their career. How will they support themselves without an education as a backup.  It's time for these athletes to wake up.  You are there for an education, not to get paid.  Coaches need to remember that as well.  Fifty hours of practice a week?  No.  Coaches need to realize that their athletes need time to study.

This is just my two cents worth!  I look forward to your comments.
